Why I Strike a Pose like Madonna watching 2024 Runway Of Dreams

I found myself striking a pose like Madonna. or maybe even posing like  Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Olivia Rodrigo and so many other Stars who move around the stage or the Runway like they own it. Many Stars have performed at various Fashion Runway Shows over many years.

During New York Fashion Week, the 2024 Runway of Dreams Fashion Show featured a long list of differently-abled models with various disabilities. As many of you already know, the Founder and CEO of Runway of Dreams is Mindy Scheier. Both she and her team gave us another amazing show this year. 

 I felt all the Models with disabilities as well as the Music Artist, Model & Writer, James Ian who is differently-abled, all performed like Stars. He sang a song called  “Spaces” which is a beautiful song to empower people with spinal muscular atrophy and other disabilities to shine in their space, bloom like they are born to be, and make their own unique, individual mark on the world.  The models wore a wide range of clothing ranging from looks that were casual, dressy, and athletic to intimate styles. 

They made me look at myself in the mirror to do a self-assessment of myself to see if I needed to do an intimate apparel makeover or reset. 

A couple things that stood out that I really liked seeing in the 2024 Runway of Dreams Fashion Show is the first-ever collaboration between New York’s Fashion  Institute of Technology  (FIT)  and Victoria’s Secret and Runway of Dreams. Models wore outfits from the next generation of designers from collaborations like this.  Intimate lingerie is being made more and more accessible to anyone who is differently-abled with a disability. For example, if you have a disability or mobility challenges in your arm or hands, then  VS and Pink Adaptive line with features like magnetic, front closures, and sensory-friendly fabric can make dressing so much easier. 

I discovered that no matter how beautiful the bras inside my closet may look in colors like red, white, and more if they made accessibility difficult for me,  maybe I really needed to consider doing an intimate apparel makeover. 

So after watching the 2024 Runway of Dreams Fashion Show., I decided I must do an intimate apparel makeover for myself.  Here’s what it will entail. When I take a moment to assess my intimate apparel if it doesn’t have front closures or feature soft, sensory-friendly materials like Victoria’s Secret, then I will have to end the intimate relationship I had with them and start a fresh, new relationship with Victoria’s Secret Adaptive bras that fit me best.

On the Runway, I saw the models wear various Brands ranging from popular brands like Kohl’s to  Target to Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret, and more. 

There was also a new brand called Down the Hatch Patch that offers fashionable covers for kids and differently-abled individuals who must use a G-Tube (feeding tube).  

 All the models brought something special to the Runway in their unique ways. I felt that they all showed the world what kind of talent they bring with their individual personality and style.  They showed us that they are not only fabulous but that they possess qualities like authenticity, strength, and so much more on the Runway. 

When I think of Stars who have performed at other Fashion Shows over the years, most of us will remember watching the Annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with stars like Taylor Swift,  Beyonce, Bebe Rexha, The Weeknd, The Chainsmokers, Justine Timberlake, Shawn  Mendes, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Halsey, Kelsea Ballerini, Rita Ora and more who performed.
