Most of us would agree that Smoothies are great to serve for so many special occasions like the Fourth of July and more.Â
Like so many of you, I have had to deal with a heatwave along with crazy weather that has been hitting us across the United States. To help me cool off from the heatwave I have been making plant-based Smoothies with some of my favorite fruits like mangoes or melons and veggies. I recently stopped at the local Farmer’s Market and selected a nice, big, juicy Cantelope and some veggie greens to make my smoothies
How many of you know that Cantaloupe is defined as a true melon from the Cucurbitaceae family rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.Â

The best part of making a DIY Sensational Summer Smoothie is everyone can use their favorite fruit if they don’t like cantaloupes. For example, you can substitute fresh pineapples or make your life easy by using a frozen bag of pineapple chunks from the supermarket. To make a neat, little smoothie or a big gigantic smoothie. It all depends on what you prefer.Â

If you like green, plant-based smoothies like me, then you have other veggies you can substitute or add like green vegetables in your smoothie.Â
Here are some of my tips below for–
My DIY Sensational Summer Smoothie
For a delicious Smoothie, I selected my favorite Summertime fruits and vegetables as follows:
2-3 cups cubed peeled cantaloupe with seeds removed.
6 ounces of my favorite Greek or Low-Fat Yogurt – I selected strawberry but other times I use Vanilla Â
1/2 a cup of my favorite vegetable- for me, it’s broccoli.Â
1/2 a cup of my favorite milk- for me, I selected Original Almond Milk or I have also used Banana or Vanilla Flavored Almond Milk. Soy milk can also be substituted.Â
A favorite juice can also be substituted like pineapple or orange juiceÂ
1 tablespoon of honey is optionalÂ
I used my favorite Smoothie Blender to combine and blend all the ingredients listed above until it’s a nice creamy smoothie or reaches a smooth consistency that is your desired preference.Â

There are so many blenders that we can choose from.
My favorite blenders have been easy-to-use blenders like Magic Bullet or Blend Jet among other Blender options (not pictured).
Healthy Smoothies are an excellent source of Healthy nutrition for everyone whether you drink one at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s always best to check with your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or other conditions like diabetes that require a special diet or nutrition plan.Â
Smoothies make wonderful adaptive meals for everyone whether you represent the neurotypical, neurodiverse, differently-abled, or LGBTQ community.Â
If anyone requires a special diet or special meal plan due to a medical condition or differently-abled needs, as mentioned it’s best to discuss with your medical doctor.
It’s important to involve our doctor and a health or nutrition coach when it comes to special diets.Â
Sometimes health coaching services may even be covered by your medical insurance. You just have to ask. Â We all must do our best to stay on top of what’s best for our health and well-being. This means we must do our homework. Â
One reputable source to utilize is the Mayo Clinic.Â
It features a Plant Powered Smoothie with the Recipe on its website. Their Smoothie features healthy ingredients like Kale, spinach, cucumber, Greek yogurt, mint, and avocado.
I will admit that I love the Smoothie Recipe from Mayo Clinic- maybe even more than my  DIY Sensational Summer Smoothies, for the simple fact, that  this healthy plant-based, plant-powered smoothie does a lot for your health with veggies like Avocados. It’s no doubt a “Veggie Lovers’ Smoothie”. Plus I liked the fact that all the nutrition facts are provided on the Mayo website for this Smoothie.Â
The website also offers a Mayo Clinic Diet for those who want to join. Â For more information, visit
No matter how you like your Smoothies get ready to cool off.Â

Yes, get ready to lift up your Smoothies and make a toast to your health and self-care.
Finally, all anyone has to do is sit back relax, and enjoy your Smoothie.
