How I became an Eyewitness to Kindness

Just two days into the New Year, it seemed as though all of America and the whole world witnessed the shocking, unexpected events of the Buffalo Bills Game against the Cincinnati Bengals when one of the Buffalo Bills players collapsed on the field. The player was #3-Damar Hamlin.Â
Fans waited as life-saving CPR was rendered and then an ambulance rushed Damar to the hospital where more critical medical care was provided. At this point, all anyone of us could do was continue to wait to hear something. Then we began to see an outpouring of kindness not only nationwide but around the world not only to support Damar’s recovery but amazing support for his charity- a toy drive as well.
Our Brand Ambassador, JamesRoy enjoys watching football so we decided to sit down with our Brand Ambassador, JamesRoy to get some of his thoughts and his reaction about what happened. We reviewed the latest reports with him that stated that Damar is making progress and also holding both arms up. Then our Brand Ambassador, interjected referring to Damar and stating, “he is like a strong body builder or wrestler.” Â We agreed and told him that the report also said that Damar is even making the symbol of a heart with his hands according to some of the news reports.Â

Here is what our Brand Ambassador said,  “I feel like I became an Eyewitness to Kindness because I never saw so much kindness towards another human being before.”Â
We then asked him to tell us more about what seeing this meant to him.Â
He explained. “It made me want to channel kindness,”Â
Then he added. Â “uhmn, this may only be a small act or expression of kindness but kindness can start with each person so I plan to spread kindness too. I can show my support like all the players and fans who support Damar by wearing #3 during my sports activities and games. Â I don’t have a #3 badge but I can be creative and use a safety pin to clip a print-out of #3 on my shirt especially when compete and play in sports events like the Special Olympics.”

He then said, “When I wear #3, it will remind me that Damar is a winner but he is the kind of winner that goes beyond football. He shows us that he is strong enough to make it to the finish line. He inspires me and so many people like me with or without disabilities that we can make it to the finish line too no matter how hard things get for us in life.”
Finally, we asked him what it means to be an Eyewitness to kindness.” He looked at us and said, ” It means I witnessed a miracle that sparked kindness. I don’t think I will forget when I became an eyewitness to this kind of kindness because I don’t remember seeing this kind of kindness before. And I have seen a lot of kindness at other sports events like the Eagles Autism Foundation before but I think the kindness with all the support for Damar feels like I did truly witness a miraculous kind of kindness that showed us not only outstanding sportsmanship but an outpouring of kindness from everyone on and off the field.
