Hardly any of us can say we do not know someone whose life has not been touched by Cancer. This can be a very painful time for any family and their loved ones when Cancer impacts us. Remember, we are all in this together, just as we were during the pandemic.
Early Cancer Screenings is recommended for all of us. In fact, according to the American Cancer Society website, men and women should start Cancer Screenings at age 45. Â
So, we must remind each other to get our Cancer Screenings done. Many of us have seen some of our favorite actors and actresses in Hollywood or Broadway choose to reveal their illness or sometimes simply remain silent about their battle with Cancer. There are times we don’t even learn about the battle they faced, until there is Breaking News and we learn they have passed away. Â As loyal family members, friends or fans, we just want to be able to spend more time with them. Somehow, we never give a second thought as to what hat or styles they wore to their medical treatments while they battled Cancer because it no longer seems important or relevant.
That’s why we should make every moment count while they are alive with us.  When we are faced with a Cancer diagnosis and somehow even though it is not easy, we manage to support our loved ones and help them find the strength to proceed with treatments like Chemotherapy or Radiation.  Let’s take a moment and consider how we can still help them to feel stylish, despite the serious circumstances. The last thing our loved ones may even want to think about is how they look. They may just prefer to remain as inconspicuous as possible as they go about their medical appointments. It’s a personal preference and we all must respect this whether we ourselves are the patient or not.Â
Perhaps, we should take time to ask our loved ones if they would not mind you picking out some fashionable hats for them to wear. Take time to find out if they like plain and simple hats or dressy, stylish hats or even more extravagant hats when it’s time to celebrate that their chemo is going well or when they have their last chemo treatment and especially when they get good news like the Cancer is in remission.

Both the men and women in our lives can be impacted by this serious disease and they will appreciate that you took the time to ask them if it is okay for you to help them pick out a simple or stylish hat to wear to upcoming medical appointments and treatments. Of course, let’s not forget our little ones. Even the children in our lives will truly appreciate your help in picking out a favorite hat that they like to wear with their outfit as well. This can be a plain hat or a hat that features perhaps a favorite Disney Princess or Disney theme.

You may even bring a smile to your loved one’s face when you take time to ask if they would like you to help them pick out a headwrap instead of a hat especially if they prefer headwraps that represent diversity and inclusiveness.
