How I Thank Workers on the Frontlines
Today we are looking at how we can each find our own ways to thank essential workers on the frontlines.
We thought who better to ask than our New Normal Brand Ambassador and model, JamesRoy. When we tracked him down and asked him if he would share his thoughts as a teen on different ways to thank Frontline workers and provide us with some examples of how he has thanked essentiall workers. Here is what he shared with us..

JamesRoy said:” I think that there are so many ways to express thanks and I certainly can’t think of all the ways to say thank you because there are so many ways. Some people will sing songs others will hit pots & pans at the same time every day to let Healthcare workers in New York City and everywhere know that we are so thankful for them and that we support them.”
He also said: “One way, I like to express my thanks is through dong basic Artwork. I have always loved doodling artwork from my earliest memories as a young child.. I also believe that although I am just an amateur, I get my inspiration from seeing the works of Art of other Artists. In fact, while doing remote learning, I have learned about Impressionism and artists like Picasso. However I do feel that I am more of an abstract artist. Recently when I finished my remote learning classwork and I felt as if I needed to unwind and release some stress, I decided to create some very basic artwork for the doctors and nurses who represent our essential Frontline workers.”
The Lookability Team: Did you send any of your Artwork to Hospitals on the East Coast?
JamesRoy: Yes, I decided to send my Artwork to say thank you to Centra State Hospital in Freehold, New Jersey because not only had I heard on the news that this Hospital had been battling the Covid-19 virus badly but they also fought a hard battle to attempt to treat several family members who died in the same family. Then when my mother shared with me the fact that when I was a much younger child that I had been hospitalized with pneumonia at that very same Hospital, I thought this was even more reason to thank the team who took care of me and nursed me back to health when I was a child. This was such an appropriate time for me to send them my artwork and express thanks especially now that they were all fighting their biggest battle against Covid-19 today, I definitely plan to continue to send my artwork to more hospitals. It definitely felt like this was the Hospital where I should send my Artwork first, Then my mother shared the following quotation with me.”
“No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.” – James Allen
Our New Normal Brand Amabassador also shared his thoughts on his artwork with us:
” As for my artwork, when you look at my artwork I think people see what they want to see. My artwork is simple, primitive artwork but there are parts of my artwork that I think are abstract because some people say they see the souls of Covid-19 patients who lost the battle with the virus escaping the feeling of suffocation and ascending to heaven. Others see other things. The important thing is to remember that all of us can say thank you in so many different ways using our own language or our own musical style or with our expressions in rich, colorful and cultural styles. I think artwork and music can be a universal language and universal expression of gratitude.”
